Project Overview
Client: Karate Combat (via Krause House DAO)
Industry: Sports Media, Web3, Combat Sports
Timeline: Sept 2022 - Feb 2023
My Role: Host, Producer, Launch Strategist
In 2022, Karate Combat made history as the first professional sports league to become a DAO. They scrapped the traditional ownership model and shifted full control to their fans through a governance token. It was a massive move that confused a lot of people. Fight fans didn’t know what a DAO was. Web3 folks didn’t know a thing about combat sports.
To help bridge that gap, I created and hosted a podcast series that brought both sides together. Through interviews with league execs, founders, and legends like Bas Rutten and Adam Kovacs, we turned this new structure into a story fans could follow and get excited about.
The Trailer
The Podcast
Across the Karateverse was a 5-episode series plus a trailer that unpacked what it means to run a fight league as a DAO. I hosted every episode and led interviews with league execs, founding team members, and legends like Bas Rutten and Adam Kovacs. Each episode blended real fight culture with approachable education around governance tokens, fan voting, and the new league model.
Hosted and recorded every episode
Booked guests and built episode flows
Shaped narrative direction for each episode
Oversaw post-production and assisted with edits
Developed branded intros and outros
Released the full series on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts
Reach & Results
Episodes on YouTube reached between 500 and 1,400 views, with more listens coming in from Spotify and Apple. The Bas Rutten episode brought extra attention and helped fans share the content with confidence.
Even more importantly, the podcast became a solid onboarding tool for new fans who wanted to understand Karate Combat’s DAO setup without needing a crypto degree.
Wrap-Up
This series turned a dense idea into something fans could actually connect with. By leading with story instead of jargon, we gave Karate Combat a real voice. It showed that when you speak clearly and stay human, fans stick around.
